Here are the details for this year's party:

Culture Corner: Canadian Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Day is a holiday celebrated in Canada on the second Monday of October.  It has been celebrated since 1957.  The holiday is meant to celebrate the end of the harvest season. It is a public holiday, so most businesses are closed and public transportation services run on a shortened schedule.
It is a holiday where many people visit family and friends, similar to Christmas.  Most people also have a special dinner.  People of European descent often have roast turkey and other foods that complement the harvest.
Here's a look at a traditional Thanksgiving dinner:

Teacher's Corner

Inside the Classroom

This month we're looking at Unit #5 in E.U. 3.  In this unit, students are practicing the use of comparatives to compare people and things.

Here is the vocabulary we'll be practicing:
  • tall / short
  • old / young
  • strong / weak
  • thick / thin
  • clean / dirty
  • pretty / ugly

Here's a look some of the language:
  • The girl is tall.  The boy is taller.
  • Who's taller, Danny or JulieDanny is taller.
Why don't you practice by asking and answer about people in your family?  Who's taller?  Who's younger?  Who's stronger?
